Our Story: Why Cocoa Sisters Exists
Cocoa Sisters was founded by Sarah with one clear belief: women cocoa farmers deserve fair pay, visibility, and opportunity.
Behind every bar of chocolate are women who grow, harvest, ferment, and dry cocoa, often while raising families and supporting their communities. Yet their work is rarely recognised or rewarded fairly.
Cocoa Sisters exists to change that.
We work directly with women farmers in the Pacific Islands, building long-term partnerships that prioritise dignity, skill, and sustainability. Our chocolate tells their stories and helps fund their futures.
How It All Began
Sarah’s journey into cocoa began through working with ITC-supported farmer networks. Visiting farming communities in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands changed everything.
Meeting women like Delwin, Agnes, and Lucy revealed the true realities behind chocolate, the long days, the lack of infrastructure, the impact of climate, and the incredible resilience of women farmers.
These experiences inspired Cocoa Sisters: a brand built on connection, fairness, and female empowerment.
